Adverse City Banner

Welcome to Adverse City a subdivision of Victory Village. The people who live here are those of whom have fallen on hard times. But here they can find a warm place to stay, a good hot meal and a place to call home until they can get back on their feet. Sometimes it's hard to make it, even in the North Pole. But this place gives people a hand up and helps them find a job and a place to call their own.

Wayward Dudes' Ranch
A place where wayward dudes and dudettes can come when they're down on their luck and have lost everything. They can come here and work on the ranch in exchange for a warm bed and hot grub. Not a bad deal, don't ya think?

Deserted Prospector's Shack
This is the only original building left standing from the old days before the war. This was the shack used by Old Pa Glumphersnickle when he would go to the mountains to pan and dig for gold. The last time he left, he never came back, and so no one has had the heart to tear it down. No one is allowed in the shack because it's too dangerous, but sometimes people sneak in there without Sheriff Bellows knowing it.

Old-Timer's Scrub 'n Grub
This is a favorite stop for all the weary travelers who come through Adverse City. The "Old Timer" who runs it believes in making travelers feel at home with good home cooked meals, and place to scrub off the mud and dirt from the road, If they have to spend the night, Old Timer even offers a soft pillow to lay their heads on. Now, how is that for hospitality?

City Jail
There's not much activity going on here, except when an occasional hooligan needs to be taught a lesson for trying to go into the Prospector's Shack. But Sheriff Bellows and Deputy Howler don't mind the lack of work at all. They're the only ones that weren't looking forward to outsiders coming in, because they know that will bring trouble with a capital "T." It will also make them a lot busier. But the Mayor promised more help when that happens, so they feel more relaxed about it.

Barber Shop
This little place is owned by Happy and Sadie Stamper. They are very kind-hearted people who wanted to make a difference in other people's lives. They help with the Wayward Dudes' Ranch by giving free hair cuts to those who first come to the ranch. And when the wayward ones are ready to get a job, they give them another free hair cut. A person's got to look respectable so they can impress the boss and get the job.

Miss Nifty's Thrifty Shop
This little shop is owned by sweet little Miss Nifty. She's has only the finest second-hand clothes and other necessary items for those on a tight budget. She also helps those wayward ones choose the right clothing for their job interviews and has been known to donate a few items now and then to the Wayward Dudes' Ranch.

Land Office
The folks running this Land Office have been waiting for new prospective buyers to come in and lay claim to homesteads or the gold mines in the hills behind Adverse City. Since Old Pa Glumphersnickle never returned, nobody here wants to make any claims nor search for gold. They keep assuring people that Pa probably just took his gold and moved away, but no one is brave enough to find out. Unless Designer Elf can get this site up and running, that mystery may never be solved.
